Hello All
I hope you are all keeping well. I have heard from the organisers of the SCAS Postal League and it is going to run again this year.

Due to the start of the pandemic in March, there has been trouble getting the awards sorted for last year but these are still in hand and will be sent in due course.

For this season only, the Portsmouth rounds can be shot both indoors and outdoors, there is no differential

It is also permitting scores for the whole month, 1st to the end of the month, all scores must be submitted by the first day of the following month

The scores will be for the best four months out of the six between October and March

Therefore can everybody start submitting scores via the page on ECAA Website which is below and we will see if we can do as well as last year

I currently do not have full details as to how the teams are to be made up but I believe it will once again need to contain at least 1 lady or 1 gentleman in the teams of 4.

The Junior scores have not yet been finalised as to how they are handicapped but I will know soon

I am really sad to share with you the news that one of our most cherished members has passed away.

According to his family, Harry (Grove) died peacefully at 03:20 Sunday morning.

Those of you who knew Harry also knew that he had been ill for sometime and had to, reluctantly, give up archery but still popped down the club.

Harry was a most valued member of the club and was made our very first Honorary Member. This was in recognition for all he had done for the club and its members using his woodworking prowess to the benefit of us all. He was also much loved for just being Harry and the club will miss him deeply.

According to my records, he joined the club in 2007 and would have been 86 in December.

Our thoughts are with his wife Carole and with all his family and friends at this terribly sad time.

Covid19 has impacted on the way funerals are carried out and a restriction on the number of attendees. I have no details of the funeral at this time so can't say if any of will be able to attend as much as we would like to.

Amelia Chumber, U16 barebow archer for Braintree Bowmen, had lots to smile about at the Woking Archery Club Open 2020 competition this weekend. 

It has been so long since target competitions have run that there were a lot of nerves as to how the day would go.

WAC had strict covid safety measures in places but over 120 archers were able to compete over the two days and a fair few from Essex clubs.  It was a very well-run competition; sure others could use as a blueprint to do their own.

Spectators were not allowed, not even parents of juniors but the Barebow community are one of the best and they all made sure Amelia was looked after. Bonus was that Amelia had her coach shooting alongside for support. 

Amelia scored 1073 in the double WA50 Barebow round and broke the previous World Record held by USA archer Trinity Howard by 25 points.

Amelia joins other Barebow archers from Sweden who also set World Records in their competitions on the same day.

Amelia claimed her 2nd World record , a European record and 4 UK records,  a triumphant end to a long day.

Many thanks go to Richard Burgess for all his time coaching that motivates Amelia to always shoot strong, her club, Braintree Bowmen, for all the encouragement they give Amelia and to Perris Archery for their continued support.

The results show that with the right inspiration hard work pays off.

Congratulations Amelia , another great result for Essex archery.

Unfortunately we have had to cancel the Malgrave Moonlight shoot.

The current AGB restriction of 30 people including helpers makes the shoot unviable. We are in the process of returning entry fees.

Andy Harris League:

Due to the current restrictions concerning Indoor venues, I am sure it will not come as a surprise to you to be told that the Andy Harris League cannot be formed for the coming Indoor Season.

However, let us look forward with the hope that some sort of normality will return very soon.
