Dear all,
I'm sure it will not surprise you to learn that there have been further cancellations to shoots in the county due to the current situation.

Abbey have had to cancel their shoot on 24th September, due to access issues.

Woodford have also had to cancel the Metric Clout this month.

Hopefully we will return to some semblance of normality soon, but in the meantime I will keep you up to date as I hear from clubs.

Debbie Horn
Essex County Archery Association

This time, last year, I was gearing up to travel to Italy to take part in the European Masters Games, in Turin - seems impossible to imagine, in the current situation!

If you read my article last year you’ll know all about it!!

Anyway, in the outdoor competition, a 720 over 60m, I managed to set a new UK masters record and, finally, last week I received my certificate to prove it!!!

This is a new record, as the masters category has never been recognised in the U.K. before.

So I am proud to say I am the first to hold it

Mayflower Archers

We have been asked to let you all know that Racketts have taken the decision to cancel both their October and December shoots. Unfortunately the club does not have a solid commitment yet from the school and so have had to make the decision.

We will keep you updated about any other shoots in the county as we hear.

Amelia Chumber of Braintree Bowmen received her certificate from Archery GB for the UK Record she set back in November at the Junior National Indoor Championships.

Her winning score of 541 broke the previous standing record of nearly 11 years.

Many thanks go to Richard Burgess for all his coaching in getting her to this point and to her club Braintree Bowmen for all their support and encouragement.

Martin Saych from Blue Arrows also had two National Records confirmed from last year.

Great result for Essex County.

We have an entry form!

It is for the Malgrave Moonlight Shoot on September 26th and as Ian Miller, the Chirman of Malgrave Archers, says:

As discussed previously we will proceed on the assumption that we may be able to run the shoot. If restrictions make it impractical we will refund any entry fees. I have made this clear on the entry form.

So the entry form can be found on the Events in Essex and Suffolk page

It appears that someone has spent time and effort setting up an email Phishing Scam in Alan Munson's name and targeted the ECAA Email addresses.

If you get an email which looks like it is from Alan asking if you are free or something then you can ignore it. They will then ask you to buy gift cards or be in a conference or something if you reply.

These are not from Alan (they are from an address) and they are just trying to harvest valid email addresses.

There is not much we can do about it as we want to have the email addresses of the ECAA Officers on the web site so just be careful.

I will see if I can add any additional spam protection to the email addresses but be careful out there.
