The results for the ECAA Field Championships for 2019 have been published at Tournaments & Records -> Results

As the TO, Laura Purser, said

It was a well attended shoot, with entries up by about 20% on the previous two years, and that was despite the horrific weather forecast!! It was a rather damp start but by the time shooting actually started it had cleared up quite nicely.

There was a really good mix of archers trying field for the first time and those who are old hands.

Seven SCAS counties were represented which was fantastic. There was some good shooting with thirteen arrowhead awards being claimed.

The closing date for the Noak Hill Fancy Dress Halloween Fun Shoot of 12th October is fast approaching so get your entries in.

The shoot is on 26th October and your £9 entry fee includes a cup of witch’s brew (soup) and a bat in a bap (burger) OR corpse in a coffin (hot dog)

The Coaching Guild are running a session on recurve string making and serving repair at the start of their October meeting. String making no longer forms part of the level 1 or 2 coaching courses, and several archers and coaches have expressed an interest as they've never seen it done. We'll cover:

  • String making standards
  • Materials and manufacturers
  • 'Stretch' and 'creep'
  • Recent changes in the industry which might affect people's default string choices
  • A 'hands-on' string making session
  • We'll have a few jigs available and the idea is very much that people give it a go themselves

The session will start at 7:00pm on Wednesday 2nd October at Margaretting Village Hall, Wantz Road, Margaretting, CM4 0EP.

We expect it to last about an hour and a quarter, after which people can leave if they wish although they are welcome to stay for the Guild's bi-monthly meeting which will take place afterwards. Entry will be free although we will ask for donations towards tea and coffee.
