David Hawkins 1932-2009

For those of you who have not yet heard. It is with great regret that have to announce the death of Mr David Hawkins who passed away on the 13 October 2009. David was one of the founder members of the ALBEMARLE ARCHERS which he ran for 40 years. This would not have been possible without his faithful Friends and loyal wife Irene. One of my fondest memories was to see them both as Gentlemen & Lady Paramount at the Essex County 25th Anniversary indoor championships in which I took part in

This poem is how I will remember David some of you will understand it more than others

THE LAST END

WHEN I AM ON THE SHOOTING LINE I WILL THINK OF YOU AND SMILE,  HELP GUIDE MY ARROWS NICE AND STRAIGHT IF ONLY FOR A WHILE

WE THANK YOU FOR THE HELP YOU GAVE OVER MANY YEARS,  MAKING THIS AND MENDING THAT AND ENDING ALL OUR FEARS

YOU ALWAYS MADE OUR ARCHERY FUN RIGHT UP UNTIL THE END,  I HOPE ONE DAY WE WILL MEET AGAIN TO SHOOT JUST ONE MORE END

THERE IS ONE THING I WOULD LIKE TO SAY AND JUST PUT TO YOU,  WHY WAS I NEVER IN GROUP ONE BUT ALWAYS IN GROUP TWO

WELL IT IS TIME FOR ME TO GO AND LET YOU REST AT SEA,  YOUR NAME WILL NOT BE FORGOTTEN IN THE WORLD OF ARCHERY

WRITTEN IN MEMORY OF DAVID HAWKINS

MARK ALAN HALSEY

For those of you who remember David back in the 1970s as an instructor and soon after a county coach, will remember him as a tall respected man. To me he was a giant amongst men. On behalf of myself and all ALBEMARLE ARCHERS past and present we would like to extend our sympathy to David's family. He will be sadly missed by all
