Rayleigh Town AC was the venue for the 2010 indoor inter-county match between Essex, Kent and Middlesex, with London dropping out being unable to field a team. The new look Essex team proved itself equal to previous teams and produced another win for the county in what turned out to be a close scoring match. Debutant Ian Bugbee showed no nerves and continued with his winter seasons performances, and a welcome return to the county side was made by Peter Dent after a 20 year absence as a senior. Dave Turner put in a solid and steady performance to take the highest score of the Essex team. Individual scores are given below.
The final scores of a team of five to include at least one of each gender were;
1st Essex – 2840
2nd Middlesex – 2828
3rd Kent – 2798
The highest score of the day was 580 by Matti Lang of Middlesex.
Essex individual scores – Yvonne Wade 567, Ian Bugbee 569, Peter Dent 558, Michael Judd – 549, David Turner – 574, Peter Walker 572.
My thanks to Maggie and Mick Pearce for judging, and to John Willson, Tracey and the others from RTAC for setting up, taking down and organising the wonderful buffet. Peter Wade did a wonderful job of keeping blood sugar up by distributing the chocolates at regular intervals.
It is always appreciated when we have supporters, so my thanks also to all the spouses, parents and friends who were there to silently cheer the team on.
