The weekend of 14-15 March was a busy one, archery wise, for Steve and myself.
On Saturday we drove to RAF Cranwell in Lincolnshire for the Civil Service Indoor Championships. Steve won gold as First Visitor Compound and I became the Ladies Indoor Compound Champion. Then the long drive back to London and home.
Then up early on Sunday as we had to get to Crawley for a 9.00 am start to the SCAS Indoor Champs. The Blackwall Tunnel was closed, so we had to drive across London not sure how long it would take. Luckily at Tower Bridge a small coach pull out in front of us that showed on its side it took people to airports. I said to Steve that I bet it was going to Gatwick, so we tagged on behind it as it drove through London all the way to the airport where it finally turned off. I bet it gave a sigh of relief when we did not follow it to the airport but stayed on the M23, it must have thought we were up to no good.
A good result at SCAS. Steve came fifth in the Gents Compound and I won the Ladies Compound to become the Southern Counties Champion for the second year running. We came third in the County Compound Team results (only one point behind Hertfordshire) and were first Married Couple Compound.
Then back in the car to drive to Brentwood to eat our lunch and await the 4.00 pm session of the Essex Champs.
Another great result. Steve came third and I came first in the compound, again for the second year running. We also came second in the Compound Team with Joan Ikel as the third member.
For my part it was a very successful weekend. Civil Service, SCAS and Essex Indoor Champion and all in one weekend.
Steve was really pleased with his results as well.
Roll on the outdoor season.
