Update by email from Philip

I have been busy, the weather has made th shooting tough and physically draining, its been wind and very hot!

Just to keep you all posted on the latest news.  Official practice went well, scored 696/720 but qualification the next day had a very tricky wind, and I only scored 669 which ranked me 16th.  So I made the top half of the draw, but in a very tough position for the H2H!

Today was the H2H rounds, the results are as follows, the seedings of each archer are shown in brackets:

1/16    P.Glover (16) GBR beat Anandaev (17) RUS  116 to 108
1/8    P.Glover (16) GBR beat Brasseur (1) FRA     117 9, 10, 9 to 117 9, 10,1 This match went to a 3 arrow shoot off!!!
1/4     P.Glover (16) GBR beat Alvarado (9) MEX     110 to 105
1/2     P.Glover (16) GBR beat Vandepoele (28) BEL 116 to 108
Final   P.Glover (16) GBR lost Greshock (2) USA       110 to 112

So all in all I came second, not too shabby for a first time at an international shoot.

It is the team rounds tomorrow, I'm looking forward to that, it'll be good fun.

The FITA event update reports (in excellent English)
In the compound men final, British Glover just shot 110 pts, his lowest score in all the eliminations. On the contrast, though American Greschock had a lower average of each arrow (9.25) than Glover (9.53) in the eliminations, he seized every chance to make a good shoot, especially the last one. Consequently, Greschock won the gold medal by 112 pts. All the archers from USA gave him a warm hug to celebrate his victory. The bronze medalist was Belgian Vandepoele who shot 111 and beat off the Canadian Cameron.
