HNA say farewell with their last ever target tournament

On 28th September 2008 Havering Nalgo Archers organised its last ever target shoot, after over 30 years of existence the club had finally been forced to close due to the damage caused to its club house by vandalism 2 years ago. Despite our best efforts we were unable to get the council to agree to allow any repairs to the club house even if undertaken at the clubs own expense.

Determined to go out on a high we were very grateful to West Essex who offered their facilities at Belhus Woods to stage this event, and to Dawn Tolson of West Essex who made a superb Lady paramount

We were fortunate in having very good weather and were delighted to have an ex member of HNA Keith Darkin as one of our judges

Our life president Mr Terry Vaughan was also able to attend despite having recently been released from hospital after very successful cataract surgery.

The shoot went of without incident and judging by the comments received was enjoyed by everyone who attended despite the confusion caused by the calling of a Best Red and Worst Black.( Hey!!!! it’s a HNA shoot, what did you expect? ).

All winners went away with a trophy which will remind them of the day and all entrants received the last ever HNA club badges. ( full results & photos attached )

At the end of the shoot, despite our determination not to let it get to us, the emotion of the day overcame some of our club members but after all our efforts to keep the club open and then to finally have to admit defeat that was only to be expected.

May we thank everyone who attended in what ever capacity for turning up and making our last shoot such a great success. THANK YOU!!!!

p.s. We have all joined new clubs so you will be seeing us all around still, you don’t get off that easily. HNA field club will continue as before and all published shoots will go ahead
